In Summary:

  1. Other Personal Issues Are More Important: Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, “one cannot pursue their higher purpose until all lower needs are met.” In other words, most people are caught up in lower level needs that they aren’t able to worry about higher-level issues such as climate change.
    1. “It is not until climate change is directly impinging on our basic needs that we will try to solve it.”
  2. Doubt: Many people are confused because the issue has become politicized and there are anti-climate change scientists.
  3. How Do We Get People To Care? We uplift people so that their needs are taken care of and they can spend their time thinking about higher-level issues.
